Alan Grant, a comic book writer, has received tributes upon his passing at the age of 73.

He was born in Bristol, grew up in Scotland, and spent a significant amount of time in the Dumfries and Galloway community of Moniaive

His writing career began in Dundee with DC Thomson, and he then moved to London to work with IPC before being hired by 2000 AD

Grant became well known for his work on series including Strontium Dog, Judge Dredd and Batman

He additionally assisted other locals in 2020 in creating their own comic book that detailed the difficulties they had with Covid-19
