Josephine Tewson, a comedy actress who starred in TV sitcoms like Last of the Summer Wine and Keeping Up Appearances, passed away at age 91

In the television series Keeping Up Appearances from 1990 to 1995, Elizabeth, Hyacinth Bucket's anxious next-door neighbour, was played by Tewson

She also appeared in Shelley, starring Hywel Bennett, and No Appointment Necessary, starring Roy Kinnear

In a statement, her agent Jean Diamond said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Tewson."

According to Diamond, the actress passed away on Thursday at Denville Hall, a care facility for artists and other members of the entertainment business located in north London

Tewson began her professional life in the theatre after being born in Hampstead, London, in 1931. She produced the West End musical Free As Air, among other things
