Lucy Hale celebrates one year of sobriety after ‘private’ journey

Lucy Hale marked one year of sobriety last month.

The “Hating Game” star told her Instagram followers in an “alternative Valentine’s Day post” on Tuesday that she has abstained from alcohol since January 2022.

“This is a post about self-love and about the greatest thing I’ve ever done,” the actress, 33, captioned a photo of a pink cake covered in sprinkles. “On January 2, 2023 I celebrated one year of sobriety.

“While this journey has mostly been private, I felt compelled tonight to let anyone who is struggling know that you are not alone and you are loved,” she concluded.

Hale’s “Pretty Little Liars” co-stars shared their support, with Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse both commenting with emojis.

Troian Bellisario, for her part, penned a lengthy message of congratulations.

“This is brave. And cool. And inspirational,” she wrote. “And you deserve all the self love and love from others that goes with it. 👏”

As for Tyler J. Blackburn, the actor shared his “respect and love” for Hale.

The singer previously quit drinking in 2017, telling Byrdie that she turned to SoulCycle instead, calling it her “version of church.”

Hale, who credited alcohol with helping her become a “social butterfly,” noted, “I’m just always trying to surround myself with better people and be the best version of myself possible.”

Last month, she spoke about the “picky … standards” she has for the romantic partners in her life.

The “Truth or Dare” star shared her “non-negotiables” on a January episode of “Broad Ideas With Rachel Bilson,” clarifying that she has not been in a committed relationship “for years and years.”

Hale said, “I refuse to believe that’s not out there. … I just have to be patient.”
